Mr. Dilip Piramal

Mr. Dilip Piramal is the Chairman Emeritus of VIP Industries Limited, which he founded in 1971, pioneering India’s moulded luggage industry. Under his leadership, VIP has become the world’s second-largest luggage company and the largest manufacturer globally, with major production facilities in India and Bangladesh, employing over 6,000 people. VIP’s portfolio includes leading brands like VIP, Skybags, Aristocrat, and Caprese—the first Indian ladies’ handbag brand in the mass premium segment.

Mr. Piramal also introduced mono block plastic chairs in India in the 1980s, with VIP being the sole manufacturer for nearly a decade. Today, over 10 crore such chairs are produced annually in India.

He has held several leadership roles, including President of the IMC Chamber of Commerce & Industry, AIPMA, and Rotary Club of Bombay Mid-Town. In 2023, he was elected Founder Chairman of the Sydenham College Alumni Association.

An active philanthropist, Mr. Piramal supports education in Rajasthan, restored the heritage Piramal Haveli, and established the Dilip Piramal Art Gallery at NCPA, Mumbai. A record-holder from Bombay University, he is a popular speaker and commentator on Indian economic history.

His accolades include awards from Horasis, Economic Times, CFBP, and multiple social organizations.
